Penzance Quiet Meet Ups: Where to find us

We know that meeting new people and going to new places as an introverted, shy or sensitive person can feel daunting. So often it feels like we need to try and push ourselves to match the louder, chattier people in the room to be able to form connections and let our voices be heard. But it shouldn’t have to be that way. We believe that there should be more inclusion, fairness and equal opportunities in society for quiet people like us - and our regular Meet Ups are one of the ways that we’re advocating for this change.

We’ve created this safe space in Penzance to help you connect with likeminded quiet people of all ages, so you can feel more confident and flourish as your true quiet self. Here, your quietness is not only accepted… it’s celebrated.

On this page, you'll find more details about where we meet and how to get there. To find out more about what to expect, go to our Penzance Meet Ups page here.

Travel

There are two bus stops on Coombe Road at The Close and Humphry Davy School – both a 3 minute walk. Plan Your Bus Route Here.

Penzance train station is a 14 minute walk.

Parking

There's parking available in the surrounding residential streets, either on Penmere Close or Coombe Road at the bottom. You'll find a car park bedside The Lescudjack Centre which sometimes has spaces, and there's some additional parking spaces at the bottom and top of Penmere Close that you can use. Please do not use parking spaces that are directly in front of people's doors.

Meeting point

Come in the main entrance - through the door on the left, NOT the door with Trelya written above it (as shown on photo below). You'll arrive in the reception area, with a lovely cafe on your left. Straight ahead, you'll see a little office with a glass window and a lovely lady called Helen who looks after the centre.

We have a room upstairs at The Lescudjack Centre. So, one of the Quiet Meet Up leaders will meet you by the double doors just behind the little office at 1pm to open the door and show you the way (see their photos on the Penzance Meet Ups page). But if you arrive earlier or later, then Helen will happily let you through the doors and tell you exactly where to find us.

Hi, I’m Hayley - the original quieteer. I, too, identify as a quiet person. I’m naturally a highly sensitive introvert and I love and appreciate my quiet strengths now, but I spent much of my life not feeling good enough and experiencing social anxiety. I missed so many opportunities because I was afraid of being judged harshly, criticised and rejected – and because I doubted that I had the ‘right’ personality to succeed. Quiet Connections exists in part because I had a fantastic coach who helped me to work through old patterns of keeping myself small and hidden so that I could show up and be seen to play my part in creating the more connected, curious and compassionate world that I dream of. Now, I’m passionate about helping quiet people discover their unique qualities, gifts, passions and experiences and explore how best to use these to express themselves more authentically and contribute to the world in a way that works with their quieter or more sensitive nature. Get to know me here.
