Birdwatching Meet Up
Join our Birdwatching Meet Up
Connect with likeminded quieteers for birdwatching at RSPB Ryan’s Field Nature Reserve, Hayle on Sunday 10 January 2026 at 11am to 1pm.
This Pop Up Meet Up is designed to help you enjoy something you might not normally do with likeminded people in a calm and gentle way that feels authentic to your true quiet self. It’s a safe space for you to have a go at something fun and perhaps gently stretch your comfort zone as part of a community of quieteers who truly get you.
We can’t wait to welcome you.

Hi, I’m Hayley.
I, too, am a quieter person. As a highly sensitive introvert, I love and appreciate my quiet strengths now, but I spent much of my life not feeling good enough and experiencing social anxiety. I missed so many opportunities and connections because I was afraid of being judged harshly, criticised and rejected –and because I doubted that I had the ‘right’ personality to succeed. Now, I’m passionate about helping quiet people discover their unique qualities, gifts, passions and experiences and explore how best to use these to express themselves more authentically, connect more meaningfully and contribute to their world in a way that works with their quieter or more sensitive nature – and I’d love to connect with you at one of our Meet Ups.
What to expect
What’s the environment going to be like?
Never thought about going birdwatching? Well now is your chance to see and do something new. This is birdwatching made easy!
The birdwatching hide at Ryan’s Field has easy access, close to parking, undercover seating and great views over the saltmarsh and lagoon where a variety of birds can be seen. Sue will guide you through the birds and we might even be lucky enough to see the exotic Spoonbill that has been visiting there recently. Binoculars and a telescope will be available to ensure you have a decent view. If you have binoculars, please bring them along. Seasoned birdwatchers welcome too!
There is also the option to take a short walk across to the causeway to view birds out on the estuary.
Do you need to bring anything?
The weather may be cold, wet and windy, so warm, waterproof clothing is recommended. The path to the causeway is likely to be muddy, so decent footwear is advised. Perhaps a flask of warm beverage would be useful as there are no refreshments available on site. There are no toilets either.
Entrance to the reserve is free of charge.
If needed, both toilets and refreshments can be found nearby at The Quay House Inn or Birdie’s Bistro. There are also toilets and eateries in Hayle, and of course Philps Pasty Shop!
