Quiet Hearts: A Portrait of Our Inner Worlds

Join our Quiet Hearts workshop

Connect with likeminded quieteers for a Quiet Hearts Textiles Workshop at CREATE Contemporary Crafts Hub, Camborne on Saturdays 16th and 23rd May 2026 at 11am-1pm.

This workshop is part of HushFest - Cornwall's Festival of Quietness.

Come and make something with your hands in the company of quieteers who truly get it. No experience is needed, and no particular skill is required. There are lots of different ways to make a heart, and we will help you find the one that feels right for you. Come as you are.

It is a safe space to have a go at something new in your own time and at your own pace, as part of a community that understands the quiet experience from the inside.

We are looking forward to seeing you there.

What to expect

What we will be doing

We are coming together to craft individual textile hearts, which will become part of a large collaborative installation for HushFest.

Hearts can be made in all sorts of ways. You might wrap wool around a small piece of card and shape it by hand, cut a pom pom into a heart shape, sew two pieces of felt together, or try a simple crochet pattern if you would like to. Sue will show you how, whatever approach appeals to you. None of these require any previous experience or specialist materials. If you can hold a piece of wool, you can make a heart.

We also have easy-to-use heart-maker kits available if you would like a simple way to begin, and a range of materials to explore including wool, felt, fabric scraps, and more. You are welcome to bring your own too.

A relaxed, welcoming environment

Sue will be there to guide you throughout. There is no right way to make a heart, and you are welcome to work quietly at your own pace or join in gentle conversation as you prefer.

We know that meeting new people can feel a little uncertain at first, and there is no pressure to perform or be particularly visible. You are welcome to arrive, settle in, and simply see how you feel.

Sue is also heart-making at the Tuesday Camborne Meet Ups if you would like to start ahead of time or have any questions before the day.

What Quiet Hearts will become

The hearts we create will be joined together to form a collaborative installation for HushFest, Cornwall's festival of quietness. This shared piece is designed to represent the richness and depth of our quiet community.

A heart carries the parts of ourselves we do not always show. When we feel appreciated and safe, our colour and warmth become visible. When joined together, the final display will show that quietness is not small or silent, but full of texture, creativity, and presence. It is a portrait of our inner worlds, offered in trust and held together by community.
