Quiet Creations with Emma Saffy Wilson
Join us in an art workshop for quiet 8 - 12 year olds at Krowji on Monday 18th August from 2pm - 4pm.
Follow your own creativity whilst working with air-dry clay in a quiet environment alongside local artist and socially engaged practitioner Emma Saffy Wilson.
This pop-up series is available for young people aged 8-12, and will encourage them to follow their own ideas and to engage with a creative medium and other quiet young people at their own pace and as their authentic quiet selves.
We can’t wait to welcome you.

Hi I’m Owen!
I enjoy being extroverted and louder with close friends, but equally need my quiet time to recharge.
With busy life I can find myself pushing that need for quiet down the list of priorities, and am now working to find a better balance and to give myself more time to breathe. I now incorporate quiet into my daily life, from intentional quiet crafty afternoons with friends, to setting a morning aside a week to sit with just myself and a coffee.
I’m excited to create quiet spaces and opportunities for young people, and allow them to more easily engage with youth activities, build confidence and connect with others at their own pace, and to see the value in allowing themselves the quiet spaces they need.
What to expect
What will the environment be like?
The session will be held in Krowji’s Art Room. The room is light and calm and photos can be found on their website.
These workshops are designed to be calm, welcoming and low-pressure, with limited numbers of up to 8 young people aged 8-12 and 2 facilitators.
There is no expectation to create or engage in any specific way. Quiet socialising is encouraged, but will not be expected.
What will be available?
All tools and resources for working with air-dry clay will be provided. Light refreshments including water, fruit, vegetables, and snacks will be available throughout the session.
What to bring?
We will provide all resources and tools, however as clay can be a messy medium, comfy clothes that they can get dirty are recommended.
What is available for parents?
Krowji has a cafe on site, The Grow Box, serving food and drink until 4pm. Fairfields Park is a 7 minute walk from the building and has a childrens’ play-park. Redruth town centre is a 15 minute walk from the building with cafes and shops.
