What to expect
HushFest's opening gathering celebrates the richness, creativity and connection that can emerge through quietness.
From gentle acoustic performances to uplifting folk, bluegrass and pop-punk, the afternoon brings together an eclectic line-up of local singer-songwriters and musicians, including Zoe Zalick, Natalia Baxter, Ellie Zalick, Ewan Lyne, Mother of the Groom, Annie Faux Pas, and our very own HushFest House Band. Alongside original songs, you'll hear thoughtfully chosen covers that reflect the spirit of HushFest.
Artwork will be displayed throughout St Cubert's Church, inviting you to explore the exhibition as you arrive before the welcome, and again after the performances while you chat with the musicians and discover more about HushFest.
The concert concludes with a very special community performance: the debut of A Little Bit of Hush, a song written collaboratively by members of our community that celebrates the strengths of being quiet, sensitive and introspective.
What’s the environment going to be like?
We are gathering at St Cubert's Church, a beautiful historic church with a long history of reflection and community gathering. Recognised as one of Cornwall's Celtic Quiet Places, it offers rich acoustics, natural light, and a peaceful setting for an afternoon of music and creativity.
Doors open at 3.15pm, giving you time to arrive, enjoy a drink, explore the exhibition and settle into the space before we gather together at 3.45pm. Once the music begins at 4.00pm, the performances continue through to the community finale. Afterwards, you're warmly invited to stay, revisit the exhibition, chat with the musicians and artists, and discover more about HushFest.
Celebrating quietness through creativity, community and culture
This gathering marks the beginning of HushFest, Cornwall's Festival of Quietness. From Saturday 4th to Friday 10th July, HushFest brings people together to explore quietness through exhibitions, workshops, performances and community-created artwork across Cornwall.
As one of Cornwall's Celtic Quiet Places, St Cubert's Church is the perfect place to begin the festival. Music, artwork and community come together here to celebrate the richness and value of quieter ways of being.
Your presence is an important part of celebrating what becomes possible when quietness is valued, expressed and shared. Together, we show what can happen when quieter ways of engaging with the world are truly appreciated.
We hope you'll join us as HushFest begins, and we invite you to return throughout the week to discover more of the festival.
