Join our Community Harmony Scarf Afternoon

Join us for a calming afternoon adding ribbons and your story to the Community Harmony Scarf at St Cubert's Church on Thursday 9th July from 1pm - 3pm.

As part of the HushFest exhibition, this drop-in session is an opportunity to explore your quiet story in a calm and gentle way that feels authentic to your true quiet self. It's a safe, welcoming space to connect, create, and contribute to something bigger than ourselves alongside a community of quieteers who truly get you.

We can’t wait to welcome you.

What to expect

What’s the session going to be like?

This is a relaxed and welcoming workshop to find out about the Community Harmony Scarf, talk to those knitting it, choose or bring a ribbon and see it knitted into the scarf as we chat. You'll be invited to contribute ribbons to the Community Harmony Scarf while enjoying gentle conversation, quiet reflection, or simply the pleasure of being alongside others

The scarf is made in themed sections, including two created especially for HushFest: Reframing Quiet and The Interconnectedness of Everything. You are invited to add your own thoughts, creativity, and presence to this growing community artwork.

About the Community Harmony Scarf

The scarf is an ongoing collaborative project that has been bringing people together through creativity, hope, and kindness since 2017. The project has a joyful spirit, but it also creates opportunities for deeper conversations about wellbeing, belonging, and the importance of every person feeling seen and valued.

Every ribbon in the scarf represents a person. Each contribution matters. As the scarf has grown, it has become a tapestry of stories, wisdom, memories, and moments of connection shared by thousands of people.

What’s the space going to be like?

We've designed our space to be calm, flexible, and comfortable. In our community, we recognise that silence is a natural strength, and both quietude and gentle chatter are welcomed.

You are invited to bring your authentic self - whether you'd like to chat or create in total silence, your quiet presence is deeply valued. Our main hope is simply that you leave feeling comfortable, included, and proud of whatever you create.

Do you need to bring anything?

If you have ribbons that you would like to donate to the project, they would be gratefully received. Donated ribbons are especially meaningful because they bring their own stories and connections into the scarf.

Whether you contribute one ribbon or many, your contribution becomes part of a living artwork that celebrates connection, community, and the belief that everybody matters and everyone has something to contribute.

HushFest

This drop-in session is part of HushFest, Cornwall's Festival of Quietness, taking place from 4th to 10th July 2026. Through exhibitions, workshops, performances, and community-created artwork, HushFest celebrates quietness as a source of creativity, connection, and belonging.
