This is our monthly gathering – a supportive space for practising conversations with people one to one and in small groups. Here, you get a choice of activities designed to slowly stretch your comfort zone as you’d like to.
With Speaking Connections, you’ll start growing your confidence in social situations so you can more easily achieve what’s truly important to you in life.
- We’re bringing understanding people together who all have similar feelings and challenges and that means this is a warm and encouraging space that feels safe and reassuring to practise having conversations in.
- It’s ok to progress at your own pace. This can mean quietly observing before choosing to take part, and you’ll be in good company.
- You’ll leave the session feeling proud that you’ve stepped outside of your comfort zone and positively determined to take your next comfort zone stretch.
“Together, we’re taking small, supported steps to stretch our comfort zones, little by little”
How could guided practise in a friendly, supportive place help you?
Here’s what other people are saying…
“I’m so glad I found you. It’s so nice to know that others are going through similar things. What I like most is being able to talk to others who have similar issues, learning how to overcome those using different techniques to control anxiety. It’s been a great way of making new friends with similar stories.”
“I like the openness of the group and the way they greeted me when I first started a few months ago. They continue to show an interest and make me feel welcome.”
“I felt that the group put my mind at rest when thinking about speaking out loud. Being around like minded people made me feel less isolated and boosted my confidence”
“The best bit is that there’s no pressure to be anyone but yourself. Other people can relate to how hard and stressful it can be. It’s really good; a chilled atmosphere and no pressure to participate”
“I met some lovely people tonight and surprised myself by speaking out to the whole group! You are awesome. Thank you for this opportunity.”
Spaces are limited so get your ticket early.
*Please pay what you can when choosing your ticket. As a social enterprise, every penny you’re choosing to invest with us means we can support someone who’s struggling to get the right help in overcoming feelings of social anxiety, shyness and self-doubt that have been holding them back in life.
Full-price tickets have enabled us to provide suicide interventions and affordable coaching for people who need it. For that person, this could mean feeling able to attend an appointment; starting to socialise; getting back to education; securing a job; taking steps to progress their career; or improving their health and wellbeing.
Thank you for your support.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There’s plenty of parking on site at Cafe Chaos. We’re on a bus route and, if you’re coming by train, just get in touch and we’ll arrange for someone to collect you on their way past.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Please bring your ticket to the event, either printed or on your phone.
