Join our Venice Carnival Themed Costume Life Drawing Meet Up
Connect with likeminded quieteers over a lighthearted sketching session led by Swashbuckling Cornwall at The Poly in Falmouth on Saturday 8th February 11.00am to 1.00pm.
This Pop Up Meet Up is designed to help you enjoy something you might not normally do with likeminded people in a calm and gentle way that feels authentic to your true quiet self. Suitable for complete beginners, it’s a safe space for you to have a go at something fun and perhaps gently stretch your comfort zone as part of a community of quieteers who truly get you.
We can’t wait to welcome you.

Hayley Stanton
Hi, I’m Hayley.
I, too, am a quieter person. As a highly sensitive introvert, I love and appreciate my quiet strengths now, but I spent much of my life not feeling good enough and experiencing social anxiety. I missed so many opportunities and connections because I was afraid of being judged harshly, criticised and rejected –and because I doubted that I had the ‘right’ personality to succeed. Now, I’m passionate about helping quiet people discover their unique qualities, gifts, passions and experiences and explore how best to use these to express themselves more authentically, connect more meaningfully and contribute to their world in a way that works with their quieter or more sensitive nature – and I’d love to connect with you at one of our Meet Ups.
What to expect
It's okay if you're not 'good' at drawing
We'll be quietly and playfully sketching (fully clothed!) models, posing in costumes inspired by The Tudors. This is an untutored session suitable for all ranges of abilities - and we are always a mixed ability group, ourselves. Poses by the models will last for between 1 minute and 15 minutes, so it's all about letting go of perfectionism and having a go.
You can bring along your own choice of materials
– pen, paper, oils, inks or even an iPad. We will have some materials if you need them.
A relaxed, welcoming environment
We’ve chosen this event because we've been before - and we know it’s a very calm and informal space and at no point will we be put 'in the spotlight' here.
A community of understanding
Our gentle-natured group leaders and the quieteers attending our Meet Ups are likely to share similar feelings and experiences with you. So here you can connect with people who truly get you - and feel part of a supportive, welcoming community as we explore something new together.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and food...
You can purchase hot drinks and food before the session begins or in the break, but you might also like to bring snacks or drinks of your own to avoid queuing.
